Intel CEO's pay package jumps 16 pct in 2009

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - An Associated Press analysis of a regulatory filing shows Intel Corp. CEO Paul Otellini got a 2009 pay package that was 16 percent higher than the year before.

Intel attributed the boost to the company's improved financial performance later in the year as the personal computer market rebounded.

Otellini received a total of $14.4 million, including $1 million in salary, same as in 2008, plus a $5.3 million bonus and stock and options worth $7.9 million when they were granted.

He and other senior Intel leaders weren't rewarded as richly as they could have been, though. A record $1.45 billion antitrust fine in Europe and a $1.25 billion settlement with rival Advanced Micro Devices Inc. caused their bonuses to drop.
