NH teacher charged with indecent exposure resigns

LONDONDERRY, N.H. (AP) - A New Hampshire teacher accused of e-mailing nude photos of herself to a 15-year-old student has resigned.

Forty-one-year-old Melinda Dennehy stepped down as an English teacher at Londonderry High School instead of remaining on paid administrative leave.

The school district superintendent said Friday that Dennehy had resigned and that her resignation was accepted by school board on March 15.

Dennehy says she also will not attend any school events this spring.

Her attorney says Dennehy is sorry for any distress she may have caused the student and his family who saw her at a gymnastics meet in Hampstead last weekend.

Police and prosecutors say they're trying to determine if Dennehy violated her bail on the indecent exposure and lewdness charge by attending the meet.

Dennehy's attorney tells the Union Leader she only went to the meet because her daughter was competing.
