A Legal Intelligencer story on the management change describes Makadon as a “frank, independent-minded leader” who continued his litigation practice while acting as chairman.

His replacement is Mark Stewart, a litigator who led strategic planning at the firm as it expanded in Phoenix, Los Angeles, Atlanta and other areas, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Stewart hopes to continue to grow the firm, bulking up offices and practice groups and looking for other opportunities, the Intelligencer says.

Stewart acknowledges he has a different management style than his predecessor. Madakon can walk into a room and his reputation leads the way, Stewart told the Intelligencer. “I have to lead a little bit more by consensus," Stewart said.

Stewart also indicated that he will be a full-time chairman. "I can't multitask like Arthur,” he told the Intelligencer.
