Wireless companies among presenters at NY conf.

NEW YORK (AP) - Wireless company executives are expected to make presentations Wednesday at a media and telecommunications conference hosted by the investment bank Jefferies.

Industry executives scheduled to speak include Anthony Melone, chief technical officer of Verizon Wireless, and Dan Schulman, president of Sprint Nextel Corp.'s prepaid group.

Wireless companies have been having trouble signing up subscribers under contracts. Many customers have opted instead for lower-cost "prepaid" service.

Earle MacKenzie, chief operating officer of Shenandoah Telecommunications, will also present.

The three-day conference in New York began Monday.
