Target May revenue comparison rises

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Target Corp. says revenue in stores open at least one year rose 1.3 percent in May. The results fell short of the company's own expectations.

Analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters, on average, expected revenue in stores open at least one year to rise 1.2 percent.

Target says it expects the economic recovery to remain volatile.

The discount retailer says total sales for the period rose 4 percent to $4.62 billion.

Revenue at stores open at least a year is a key indicator of a retailer's performance because it excludes growth at stores that open or close during the year.

Target expects the figure to rise in the low single digits in June.
