1 dead, 4 hurt after small plane crashes in Alaska

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Anchorage police have identified the 4-year-old who died when a small airplane crashed near downtown as Miles Cavner.

The Cessna 206 clipped the roof of a motel in a busy business district and crashed in front of an unoccupied former car lot office, sparking a fire shortly after 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

Police say four other people onboard were injured, including the child's father, 34-year-old Preston Cavner, who was piloting the aircraft.

His wife, 32-year-old Stacie Cavner and another son belonging to the couple, 2-year-old Hudson, were also in the plane, as was 16-year-old Rachel Zientak of Texas.

Police say Zientak was to be transferred to a Seattle hospital, while the other three were to be flown to a hospital in Portland, Ore.
