Man convicted in 3 deaths at Colo. ice cream shop

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (AP) - Jurors have convicted a man of vehicular homicide and other charges in a crash that killed three people, including a 3-year-old boy, at a suburban Denver ice cream shop.

Twenty-five-year-old Francis Hernandez, an illegal immigrant from Guatemala, was convicted Tuesday.

Prosecutors say he was driving an SUV that crashed into a truck, which in turn crashed into the shop in September 2008.

Two women in the truck were also killed.

Prosecutors say Hernandez ran a red light and was going more than 80 mph in a 40-mph zone.

Defense lawyers said a cousin of Hernandez was driving the SUV and that the driver of the truck shared the blame because she had methamphetamine in her system.

The cousin was later killed in a shooting.
