Widow: Penske warned of threats before shooting

ATLANTA (AP) - The widow of a victim of a shooting rampage at a suburban Atlanta truck rental company says the company received numerous warnings about a disgruntled ex-employee later accused of killing three people and injuring two others there.

The lawsuit filed Friday claims managers of the Penske Truck Rental facility were warned several times about former technician Jessie James Warren but never took "reasonable steps" to protect the workers.

Authorities say Warren fired on ex-colleagues in Kennesaw on Jan. 12 and was arrested nearby. He has pleaded not guilty to murder charges.

The lawsuit was filed on behalf of Barbara Springer, widow of slain Penske employee Van Springer.

A Penske statement called the shooting "an unpreventable random act of violence."
