Defense portrays Blago as hotheaded, well-meaning

CHICAGO (AP) - Defense attorneys are expected to resume questioning a key prosecution witness at former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich's corruption trial.

Tuesday will be the sixth day on the stand for former Blagojevich chief of staff John Harris.

In his questioning of Harris on Monday, defense attorney Sam Adam Sr. tried to portray the then-governor as someone who was prone to outbursts but who always had the interests of his state at heart.

Testifying earlier for the prosecution, Harris had described a calculating Blagojevich desperate to parlay his power to name someone to Barack Obama's vacated U.S. Senate seat into a well-paying job.

Blagojevich has pleaded not guilty to scheming to sell or trade the seat.
