Whitman: No interest in White House run

WASHINGTON (AP) - Republican California gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman says she has no interest in a future run for the United States presidency. She says she is focused on helping recession wracked California climb out of its 12.3 percent unemployment rate.

Whitman says she would target tax cuts for employers and reduce regulations that she said are "strangling business." Whitman is the billionaire former chief executive of eBay who spent more than $90 million winning the Republican nomination for governor.

Asked on ABC's "Good Morning America" whether she had any interest in running for the White House, Whitman replied bluntly, "No."

Whitman faces the state's Democratic attorney general, Jerry Brown, in the governor's race.
