Companies: Detroit mayor dodging process servers

DETROIT (AP) - Companies have been trying to serve Detroit Mayor Dave Bing with lawsuits over bills that his former steel company has not paid.

The owners of a Fraser stamping company and a parts finishing operation in Auburn Hills tell The Detroit News that process servers have been unable to reach Bing at City Hall. In the Thursday story they say Bing aides have turned them away.

Grant Industries is suing Bing Metals for $385,000. Parts Finishing Group in Auburn Hills is suing for about $37,000. Bentley Environmental Services and Transportation in Taylor is seeking $15,423 from Bing Metals.

Bing has said he stepped away from Bing Group operations after his May 2009 election. He said the poor economy forced the sale of Bing Metals.

The newspaper says Bing's staffers refused to comment.
