NJ chemist accused of poisoning husband to death

MONROE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say a New Jersey chemist poisoned her estranged husband to death with a highly toxic metal.

Tianle Li of Monroe Township, who worked for Bristol-Meyers Squibb, was in the process of divorcing her 39-year-old husband when he died Jan 26.

Xiaoye Wang had checked into a hospital on Jan. 14, complaining of flulike symptoms. Prosecutors say tests showed he had been poisoned by thallium.

Li's lawyer tells The Home News Tribune of East Brunswick that his client denies any involvement in her husband's death. She's being held on $4.15 million bail in the Middlesex County Jail.

Her lawyer says Li's 2-year-old son was placed with a foster family and she's waiting for family to come from China to care for the boy.
